When Did You Last Stop for Breath?

Recently I parked my car to take a scheduled phonecall, something very familiar to me.
As we checked in, discussed challenges and options I became very aware of the world round me.

What was unfamiliar was where I had parked the car, not in a car park or at the side of the road but somewhere different. I just realised I was in the beauty of the country.

The sun was shining, the fields were positively glowing and following the gloom of the winter, the newness of the spring in the air was bringing me to a new awareness of these different surroundings.

After the call I just sat and appreciated what was around me in that moment. I thought about how I often rush through life, missing some of the beauty beside me and how easy it can be to do something valuable that takes no extra effort, I was just enjoying being where I was.

How can you slow down this week and take some time to appreciate where you are amid the chaos of your normal routine?

Yes, it really made me think!

From the warmth of the car I could see for miles and felt truly calm and still, I watched some birds feeding from a bird table, a robin, some blue tits and a few chaffinches. I loved how they took turns from the surrounding bushes to fly backwards and forwards, sharing the food and all was calm until a big wood pigeon flew in and they all scarpered (eat your heart out Bill Oddie).

Here at miworld, we appreciate the importance of taking time out and are currently working on “The Big Wheel,” a way of defining what you want your future to become. I am currently working with women in the comfort of my own home, to establish exactly where we are right now and where we want to grow to.

It’s informal, it’s relaxing and it certainly has made people think.

I am planning to hold another one soon, so look out for more details and in the meantime, when you get a chance to spend a couple of minutes in unusual surroundings, watching what’s around you, then please take advantage of it.
