With Great Power comes Great Responsibility

“Jane, Why miworld?”

“Jane, Why miworld, miresponsibility?”

These two concepts embrace the whole of who I am, and what my business is about and I often get asked what it means.

The name miworld was born because we all live in our own little worlds which collectively makes up the universe and how we think, feel and behave in our worlds can have a huge impact on the whole.

Responsibility –your ability based on your skills, experience and desires to respond to a situation.

Everything starts with a thought or a dream, and whether you achieve it depends on what you are willing to do and sacrifice to get it, about how badly you want it.

Napoleon Hill in his book, Think and Grow Rich calls it ‘desire’.- Whether you want to create a ship, a home or a new life, it starts with feeling passionate about it, about WHY you want it, and your WHY becomes your driver.

Our energy starts when we want to change our current situation – we are motivated through either inspiration (I am so excited about this) or desperation (things are so bad I have to do something), however both situations require us stepping up and taking responsibility for that change.

When I was faced with the possibility of voluntary redundancy, I remember thinking it would be so much easier staying with a well established company than leaving and starting up a business and that is true however, now that I can look back over 10 years, the challenges, fun and personal growth I have experienced, as well as connecting with you, have made it all so worth the effort.

As you will recognise, the title is a well known quote from Spiderman and look at the results he was able to achieve with his new spider power.

It’s all about getting from where you are now to where you want to be – and the courage to get you started is rooted in your ability to respond to your current situation.

Now I would ask you to think about a challenging situation of your own and consider your learning experiences!
